The personality of the Mini is outgoing, curious, and a bit mischievous. He is always up for a good game of fetch or sleeping in on a Sunday afternoon next to his owner. Smart and eager to please, the breed loves to learn tricks, obedience, and excels in many dog sports. The Mini is small enough and adaptable enough to be litter box trained. The Miniature Schnauzer can thrive in a city apartment or is hardy enough to enjoy living the rural life and exploring the great outdoors. The breed is tenacious and will eagerly take on a bigger furry opponent, but gentle enough to be a companion to a small child. The breed is versatile and does well in a wide array of lifestyles, making them a good choice for families wanting a big dog in a small package.
The coat of a Schnauzer soft, offers very little shedding, and is considered to be hypo-allergenic making them a good choice for many with allergies. Brushing is needed to maintain the coat and prevent matting. Professional grooming is recommended to trim the coat and keep it in shape. Ears on the Schnauzer can be naturally floppy or cropped to stand erect. The tail can be naturally long or docked short.
The colors of a Schnauzer can be black, silver, black and silver, salt and pepper, and the Mini's also come in white, merle, chocolate, and parti-colors.
