The Poodle is a highly intellectual dog capable of critical thinking, therefore the breed excels in many duties such as police work, therapy dogs, and support dogs. Due to his ability to think, the breed also requires an owner that can provide him with mental stimulation to challenge his need for brain exercises, along with physical exercise. He is fun-loving, gentle, good with children, other pets, loyal and a loving companion that makes an excellent watchdog. The Poodle has a very low dander level, is considered non-shedding and the most hypo-allergenic of all the breeds, making them a great choice for many allergy sufferers. Their coat is soft, thick, tightly curled, and comes in just about any solid and multi color available. The Poodle does best with regular trips to the dog groomer for clipping the tight curls to make grooming more manageable. The tail is docked short. This breed is extremely intelligent, loyal, fun loving and athletic. They're average lifespan is 10 - 14 years.
