Maltichons are intelligent and clever, with no stubborn or willful traits which makes training a breeze. Of course, they still respond best to positive reinforcement as they love praise and being the center of attention! These sociable pups are also goofballs, that love to clown around and make their owners laugh. Early socialization and training are important with Maltichons to ensure they don’t develop any behavioral issues down the road. Like most toy breeds, they are prone to separation anxiety and “yappiness” if left alone for too long.
These dogs aren’t too active, a thirty minute daily walk or a visit to the dog park will do. Maltichons will always want their owner’s attention, so interactive playtime shouldn’t be hard to accomplish. They do, however, require mentally stimulating activities, otherwise they’ll become curious and mischievous. More than anything else, the Maltichon will want to curl up by your side.
