The Eskipom is an energetic breed that’s extremely affectionate by nature. They do well in all types of homes from apartments to regular houses with fenced-in yards. They get along great with children, although young children should be supervised when playing with these dogs due to their energy levels. Eskipoms are highly trainable as well, making them great for first time dog owners. However, they can be stubborn at times, so training will require a little patience.
Eskipoms are also very alert and protective, which they inherit from their Pomeranian side. They tend to act territorial around other dogs and people they don’t know, and they’re very likely to bark at strangers. Early socialization is necessary, although they’ll still be the first to alert you of company at the door.
These little dogs are great bundles of energy. They require a lot of exercise daily, otherwise they’ll release that energy on your shoes and other possessions. Due to their thick coats, hot weather isn’t suitable for them. The Eskipom may also suffer from separation anxiety, so leaving them alone for long periods of time is not a good idea.
