The Springer is an intelligent breed, loyal, sweet, and ready for adventure. This breed is best suited for an active lifestyle and enjoys hiking, jogging, Frisbee, fetch, and of course swimming. The breed does have a bit of a stubborn streak and does best in a home where the owner spends time providing both mental and physical exercise on a consistent basis. Generally known to be good with children and other animals, the Springer should be properly socialized and trained to ensure he is a happy house dog. The breed is alert, athletic, and active, he thrives in either a suburban or rural setting with an average lifespan of 10 - 15 years.
The Springer is noted for his gorgeous soft coat with beautiful feathering and long flowing ears. His coloring is either liver/white, black/white, or tricolored and is of medium length. Only requiring regular brushing sessions to prevent matting, along with the occasional bath to maintain his coat in good condition. Professional grooming is optional and unnecessary, shedding is moderate. This spaniel has the typical soft, short coat with feathering on the legs, ears and chest that is easy to groom.
