Chihweenies are energetic and will always prefer to play over everything else. However, they’re still very much cuddly lap dogs. Much like the Chihuahua, these dogs are feisty yet obedient. They also may have a prey drive thanks to their Dachshund parent. They have loud personalities and tend to let you know what’s on their mind. Early socialization and training are always highly recommended. This is help ween out any unwanted behaviors and allow acceptance of more people and other animals.

The Chihweenie does great in most lifestyles, as always it is important to supervise this breed with children and other animals until rules are established and followed. Training with a Chihweenie should be looked at as if training a larger breed. This is help make for a better and well-rounded canine companion.  Their exercise needs are not extensive, mainly between the couch and the television for some romp around or “zoomie” time. They will enjoy walks around the neighborhood as well as outdoor sun basking or playtime.
