This Mastiff breed with lots of extra droopy skin will live on average 10 - 12 years, with ears that can be left natural or cropped to stand erect, with a tail that is naturally long or can be docked short.
The Cane Corso is a dominant breed that requires a firm owner that will set clear boundaries and will provide early socialization and training to ensure a well-balanced dog. The Cane is built like a tank and likes to play rough, not understanding his brute strength. He is fiercely loyal and protective, he is also tolerant of children provided he is well socialized. As with any large, protective breed, supervision with small children and other animals is always recommended. This is not a good breed choice for anyone that is not willing to provide consistent, firm boundaries and proper exercise of both mind and body for the wellbeing of the dog.
The Cane Corse has a short coat that is easy to care for by simply brushing regularly to remove the dead undercoat along with the occasional bath. Shedding is moderate, and colors for the breed include Black, Fawn, Brindle, and Blue.
