The Pomsky is a miniature wolf-look alike. It’s a designer crossbreed between the Siberian Husky and the Pomeranian—a strange but gorgeous cross breed. These “mini wolves” are silly little fluff balls that will use their playful antics to become the center of attention. These dogs are highly adaptable, and will do well living in apartments or homes with fenced-in yards.

Pomskies are highly intelligent and respond well to reward-based training methods. Of course, they can be stubborn and willful at times thanks to both parents of the breed, so patience and calm assertiveness is necessary. Establishing pack-leader status is also necessary, otherwise this breed will develop “small dog syndrome” and take over, displaying behavioral issues.

Both parent breeds are also known to be vocal, which the Pomsky also inherits. They will bark, howl, and whine a great deal if allowed. They’re also very protective and loyal of their owners, and may not take to strangers or other dogs well. Early socialization will allow these dogs to remain calm and welcoming towards others. Pomskies may be skittish around small children that don’t know how to handle a dog, and so they are more recommended for families with older children.

Pomskies love to play around a frolic. They’re fairly active dogs that require a minimum of one hours of exercise each day, not including interactive playtime and mental stimulation. These are not couch-potato dogs, and will not do well with inactive owners.
