Miniature Pinscher

Bred in Germany as a companion and vermin hunter, the Min Pin as he is referred, is listed in the Toy group. This breed has no connection to the large Doberman Pinscher other than sharing a similar appearance and is more closely related to the Manchester Terrier and German Pinscher. The breed stands 10-13 inches tall at the shoulder and typically weighs between 5-15 pounds. Ears for the Min Pin can be either natural or cropped to stand erect, and the tail can either be natural or docked short. The Min Pin is a sturdy little dog that is compact in size and big in personality.

The personality of the Min Pin is that of a highly spirited social butterfly, a dutiful watchdog, and loyal friend. He has a unique zest for life and is always ready for adventure. The breed is somewhat willful, and training is accomplished through consistence and patience. The coat on the Min Pin is no fuss, no muss since it is very short, very easy to maintain, and offers minimal shedding and care. The occasional brushing to removed dead undercoat and a bath are all that is needed to keep the Min Pin coat in good shape. The colors of this breed are always a solid color, typically with red/rust markings on the face, chest, and legs. Colors include: black/rust, solid red (stag), blue, or chocolate/rust. The average lifespan for this breed is 12-16 years.
