The Bully basset is a medium to large sized designer breed that comes from a mix between the Basset Hound and the English Bulldog. Despite the name, the Bully basset is anything but a bully. The breed is affectionate and social, although they do have quite a stubborn streak that they inherit from their English Bulldog parent. Where the Bully Basset was first bred is unknown, but their parents originate from Europe, with histories dating back to the 16th century.
The size of the Bully Basset will vary depending on the size of each parent, but the outcome is an adorable “stretched out” version of the English Bulldog with the floppy ears and longer snout of the Basset. This lovable breed will get along with all members of the family, including other pets. They’re especially good with children. However, like most breeds, early socialization and training is a necessity. Bully Bassets have a mind of their own, and while they’re an intelligent and trainable breed, it may not be suitable for an inexperienced dog owner. They also don’t like to be left alone.
The Bully Basset is a fairly energetic breed, and will require around an hour of exercise daily outside of patient and consistent training. Once they’ve expelled that energy they’ll be more than happy to cuddle up beside their favorite family member.
A very good boi that loves playing fetch and ice-cream! Gentle with everyone. Scared of the rain.
