A Toy Breed originally from Asia and also known as the Japanese Spaniel, the Chin was and is first and foremost a companion dog that weighs on average of 5-15lbs and stands 7-15 inches tall at the shoulders. The breed is sweet and affectionate and is a loyal companion. The breed is a household favorite of the Musician Ozzy Osborne and his family who own multiple Chins. The Average lifespan for this breed is 12-15 years.
The Chin is sweet, quiet, and happy. He enjoys spending time with his family and is a loyal friend that thrives on positive training methods and love. Smart and eager to please, the Chin is happy-go-lucky and very adaptable to both urban or suburban living. Small enough to be litter box trained, he is a clean breed that wants to be by your side.
The coat of a Japanese Chin is soft and silky and scrumptious to the touch. Its medium length with feathering on his trim make him easy to care for via frequent brushing sessions to remove dead undercoat, with no professional grooming required. Shedding is minimal to moderate and he is a no fuss no muss kind of dog. Although he looks aristocratic and regal, his coat is considered low maintenance, making him a wonderful pet that is easy to care for.
